Van Helsing: special abilities

Mystic Warrior is a specialist in melee combat, and Occult Hunter in a ranged weapon. Of course, the abilities within them were grouped into trees. A companion can be sent to the store to sell the captured equipment and buy potions of life regeneration and mana.

There are five types of items in the game: normal, magical, rare, epic and set. The latter must be improved by continuous use so that you can unlock the fullness of their capabilities. For example, a sword can require a certain number of killings, and the armor of successful attempts to stop attacks. Equipment can be further improved by means of enchantment (giving one random ability) and various kinds of essences that provide a good selection of additional features. While playing, we go through dark locations and kill beasts in the style of overgrown rats, zombies, goblins, demons and other fantastic creatures. The main character has two basic types of weapons – a sword and a pistol.

Magic and weapons

Mythical creatures, however, do not intend to give up without a fight, and Van Helsing is quickly recruited into the resistance movement, headed by a vampire – one of those helped by the overthrow of his father. In terms of the character development system, the solutions were tested in similar games. The hero describes four basic attributes: body structure, dexterity, willpower and happiness. Everyone is responsible for other aspects. The first provides more life points, better defense against enemy attacks and higher melee damage. Dexterity decides the chance of dodging and injuries in distance battles. Willpower determines the number of mana and magic potential points. Happiness allows you to find more gold and magical items, and to deal more powerful damage in the event of a critical hit. In the case of skills, players were given two paths to choose from.

Van Helsing: bonus kit

So far, the release of The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing 2 was only known to be later this year. But there was no concrete release date so far.

Hunter – The Hunter is the tank class; you will charge into battle with deadly swords.

The video game adaptation provide examples of the following tropes:

• Adaptation Expansion: The video game follows rather closely the story of the film, but adds some more new elements, such as many other monsters for Van Helsing to fight which also serve as Dracula’s henchmen.
• Adapted Out: Carl the friar is nowhere to be seen in the game, but he does turn up briefly in the GBA version.
• Animalistic Abomination: Among the many enemies you encounter in your journey, there are bat-like shadowy beings which spawn in later levels.
• Bat Out of Hell: Aside from the demonic forms of Dracula, his brides and their children, you also do battle against large-sized bats and the aforementioned bat-shaped shadowy creatures.

Darker and Edgier: The game is more violent than the film it is based on.
Dem Bones: Living skeletons with different elemental powers are the game’s most common enemies. You also fight flying skulls which shoot fireballs on your way to the Frankentein’s monster’s underground lair.
Elite Mooks: The dwergis from the movie appear as enemies in both castles, but there is also a variant wearing spiked armor which wields better weapons, sports more health and can even curl itself into a ball and jump or roll at you to deal more damage.
Giant Flyer: Gigantic dark owls appear as enemies in some early levels. They attack in flocks.
Monster Delay: Much like in the film itself, Dracula first appears in his demonic form from a distance, and Van Helsing instead fights him the first two times in his human form. After Dracula is successful at bringing his children to life and Van Helsing storms his castle with the intent of finishing him once and for all, the good count loses his patience and lets his inner bat out.

Our Banshees Are Louder: They appear as spectral women with wide, gaping mouths filled with sharp teeth located in their chests and lower bodies, from which they utter loud, powerful screams to attack the player.
Our Gargoyles Rock: They are depicted as horned, flying demons made of stone which usually appear in an inanimate state but can come to life willingly to attack intruders with several flight-based attacks. Rather hard to defeat, if you ask us.
Our Werewolves Are Different: Aside from Velkan himself, smaller, weaker werewolves appear as enemies in later stages of the game.

Spiritual Successor: Castlevania aside, this game is a spiritual successor to Devil May Cry.
Warm-Up Boss: Mr. Hyde, who is also the first villain in the film.
Zerg Rush: Moreso in the later levels of the game, where several monsters come to you at once. The huge dark owl enemies are also fond of attacking in flocks.

Van Helsing game: storyline

When the heroes reach the land, things get complicated. Young Van Helsing is ambushed, and the bridge leading to the city is blown up. While crossing the surrounding villages, swamps and forests, it turns out that the scientists – former liberators of Borgovia – fell into madness and threw themselves into their throats. Out of the civil war, no one but Fulmigati emerged victorious, and now he tries to subjugate the magic that is omnipresent in that region by means of science. This in turn means the legions of mechanical soldiers, technologically improved and free of charge free weres and other disgusting creatures created in mysterious laboratories.

Monsters and Loot

Throughout the game, players will encounter different monsters.

Some monsters are familiar like werewolves and ghosts, but others are weird.

For example, there are frog people that defend their lands from intruders.

There’s a variety of monsters, especially when moving into a new location.

Very few monsters hang around by themselves, so they attack in groups.

Be careful, their friends will surround some of the strongest creatures to protect them.

Therefore, running straight into a mob without checking can get you killed.

The way to check if they are strong monsters is by hovering your mouse cursor over the group.

If you see a boss name with purple or orange name tags, prepare yourself, they’re tough.

Similarly, there are elite creatures that hang out together and all of them have colored name tags.

Once you defeat these tough enemies, they drop the best loot in the game.

Gameplay

Van Helsing’s gameplay bears similarity to the Devil May Cry series by Capcom. Van Helsing begins the game wielding two handguns and his Tojo blades. He later acquires various other weapons, some of which are seen in the movie, such as the shotgun and the bow gun. Van Helsing can make use of both his firearms and his blades to dispatch enemies. The player also has the ability to use enhanced ammunition with Helsing’s weapons once the ammo is found. Hitting the L1/LT trigger gives Van Helsing a blue-ish glow as he unloads his enhanced ammo. Van Helsing also can perform evasive rolls in four directions to avoid incoming attacks. Van Helsing also has a grappling hook that allows him to latch onto high ledges that are otherwise inaccessible. Van Helsing can make use of this grappling hook to start combos or to perform grappling jumps.

The game also features a shop mechanic where players can purchase additional combat techniques and power-ups to increase health and other characteristics. Items in the shop can be purchased by using “orbs” that are collected from fallen enemies.

A Skilled Hunter

To survive in the Van Helsing video game, players need to choose the right character skills.

Every time your character levels up, he will receive three skill points.

We can spend each skill point on either Thaumaturge skills, Tricks or Auroras.

This is the fun part, players can create unique characters by adding a combination of skills points in these areas.

Thaumaturge skills

This is the meat of your skills; Choose a skill tree to follow throughout the game.

I recommend applying skill points to one branch of skills all the down to the last one.

Your character build will become much more focused on one particular gameplay.

I chose the damage/sorcerer skills that use elemental damage with ice, fire, and lightning.

Build your ability points

You will receive five ability points every time your character levels up.

The formula to build your character the right way is like this:

Willpower=10+15=25

Dexterity=10+5=15

Dexterity=10+15=25

Body=10+5=15

Body=10+15=25

Luck=10+5=15

Start building the Willpower ability point until it reaches 25 points.

After receiving 15 points in Willpower, start adding Dexterity points.

The same goes to the Dexterity ability; after receiving 15 points add Body points.

Finally, when you have 25 Body points, start adding points to the Luck ability.

Each ability will have ten points in between; This means that when you have 40 points in Willpower, Dexterity will have 30.

Follow the same formula every time your character receives ability points.

Also, it’s important to have the right ability points to match your skill points.

How to play as a Thaumaturge in Van Helsing Video Game

First, you need to decide on what type of Thaumaturge to build.

There are two ways I would build my character, as a damage/controller or damage/sorcerer.

I recommend using the same Lady Katarina build for both types.

Damage / controller uses controlling abilities to have monsters fight for you.

This adds more damage to your team, helping to beat more monsters.

However, this build does not use or need more Mana than the sorcerer build.

Damage / sorcerer has lots of Mana to his disposal and uses deadly magic to kill enemies.

With this build, your character will have a huge amount of Mana so he can use more magic.

I created the damage/sorcerer build, so that’s the one we will study.

Tip: During gameplay, if you did not apply your skill/ability points correctly, you can reset them.

However, it costs 500 in-game gold per point to reset.

The most important part of building your character is applying the right ability points.

Is the Van Helsing video game easy to install and play?

I bought the game through the Steam platform and it was easy to install.

It might take 30 minutes or fewer to download, depending on your Internet speed.

The game has two options when talking about playing the game.

Players can use either a keyboard mouse setup or a joystick.

Both play styles are effective, but each has its pros and cons.

Before starting the game, the player needs to choose their preferred setup.

Getting Started

If you start the game without joystick support, it will configure the game for keyboard and mouse.

All the game’s menu will change according to the setup. 

Both setups look different when playing the game.

Using the joystick is solid, but it’s limited to the amount of actions you can perform.

For example, powering up your spells requires you to select from three different skills.

It can get confusing if you don’t know where the button is on the controller.

However, with the keyboard and mouse setup, gamers can remember where each key is located.

I prefer using the keyboard setup because I can click directly on the item I need.

With the joystick, players may need to use both the keyboard and controller to play the game.

Overall, the game plays well with either, so choose your monster-slaying weapon and start playing.

Сложно не согласиться, что такое длительное приключение осилят не все, но те, кто все-таки сможет пройти The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing: Final Cut должен остаться рад.

Одним из них является наличие багов, которые так и не устранили разработчики. Иногда игра может выбросить на рабочий стол без особых на то причин.

Как многие неверное уже догадались, The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing: Final Cut повествует о приключениях охотника на нечисть более известного под именем Ван Хельсинг. Он должен помогать людям и уничтожать различных монстров наподобие русалок (да-да, именно русалок), огромных пауков, оборотней и т.д. Для этого старина Ван использует всевозможные стимпанковые приспособления в зависимости от класса.

Всего игра предлагает шесть классов — заступник, охотник за головами, элементалист, повелитель теней, флогистонист и инженер-конструктор. Каждый из них отличается собственным набором умений, внешним видом и вооружением. Одни используют для уничтожения нечисти арбалеты и мушкеты, другие полагаются на холодное оружие вроде мечей.

My experience with this game was a rough one; I started playing a Thaumaturge and died a lot.

But since the game attracted me, I learned more about game play and mechanics.

If you never played a game like Diablo 2, this game will be difficult at first.

Happily, there are five difficulty levels to choose:

Casual – For players that never played the game or games like this one.

Normal – This is the default setting when starting a new character.

Hard – Recommended for people who played the game or are veterans in the genre.

Heroic – War veterans apply; This is for highly experienced players with a strategy plan.

Hardcore Character – For gamers who want to commit suicide; if you die, it’s permanent.

Multi-player gameplay is still available on the Steam platform.

Last time I checked, there were eight people playing online.

However, don’t expect to find a lot of players; this game is pretty old.

Once a difficulty level is chosen, the player needs to invent a plan on how to play.

Luckily for you, I have created a Tips and Tricks section below to help you start your new adventures.

Tips and Tricks

Playing as a Thaumaturge is a challenging but rewarding class; keep your distance from groups of enemies.

Fire your first shot to bring enemies close, then turn Lady Katarina into Ghostly Mirage.

Don’t start bombing your enemies right away, let Katarina build aggro.

Now, start helping by shooting down enemies that have received damage.

If a huge army of monsters chases you, don’t fire back; run towards Katarina and stay near her.

Lady Katarina is sworn to protect you from anyone who touches you.

Use Sluggish Time to escape monster attacks or to take down multiple enemies.

О сюжетной линии игры говорить вообще не стоит — она явно для галочки и не представляет никакого интереса. Сами квесты хоть и не блещут оригинальностью, заинтересовать в целом могут. Ничего кроме, «убей-принеси» нам, конечно, не предлагают, но благодаря большому разнообразию врагов и интересной прокачке персонажа выполнять каждую новую миссию хочется непрекословно. Кстати, о прокачке — мы можем улучшать персонажа по таким типам, как общие характеристики, навыки и умения. В первом случае нужно выбирать к какой характеристике прибавить очередной плюсик: к выживаемости, урону или мане.

Что касается навыков и умений, здесь все немного по-другому. Навыки представляют собой колесо из восьми различных способностей. К примеру, у охотника за головами навыки в основном реализованы, как типы стрелковой атаки. Можно прокачивать замедляющие снаряды, разрывные, огненные и т.д. Стоит отметить, что каждый навык создан вполне продумано, так как позволяет нам создавать всевозможные тактические плюшки, благодаря которым можно по-разному сражаться с противниками. Кроме того, у навыков есть несколько дополнительных параметров, улучшающих тот или иной атрибут.

Замыкают систему прокачки персонажа «умения». Для того, чтобы получить одно очко умений, нужно зарабатывать репутацию — уничтожаем монстров, потом идем ищем новых монстров и снова их уничтожаем. И так все время, пока не надоест. Но надоесть не дает азарт от получения каждого нового уровня. Теперь разработчики позволили прокачать своего героя до 100-го уровня. Нововведение, честно говоря, так себе, так как ничего особенного кроме дополнительной нужды в убивании монстров не привносит.

Довольно интересной и заставляющей сидеть за игрой составляющей является инвентарь. Радует его огромное количество и возможность производить различные улучшения. В The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing: Final Cut мы не будем бегать с одним оружием больше часа, ведь шанс получить крутую «убивалку» врагов весьма высок. Плюс ко всему, данную «убивалку» можно скрестить с другими подобными, после чего создать что-то особенное.
