Just cause 3

Description

According to the in-game map: «Perched high in the mountains and guarded by powerful Bavarium warheads, Falco Maxime is Di Ravello’s grandest fortress. The CentCom Tower’s computer network houses the largest and most comprehensive repository of Bavarium knowledge in the world.»

This base is protected by a Bavarium FOW missile system which, according to Dimah, are «miniature Bavarium nukes», making this place very difficult to attack, but the FOW can be disabled by doing the mission Bavarium Blackout.

The base has 4 runways and some large concrete buildings. As with the other two regional central command bases, its highest point is a big tower.

This could be the primary headquarters for the military in Insula Striate, as Di Ravello’s palace in Citate Di Ravello might also be a HQ for the military in Insula Striate.

  • NVIDIA Inspector для видеокарт от Nvidia;
  • RadeonMod для видеокарт от AMD.

Загрузив программу, запускаем ее. В случае с NVIDIA Inspector нужно запускать файл nvidiaProfileInspector.exe, а не nvidiaInspector.exe.

  • Texture filtering — LOD bias;
  • Antialiasing — Transparency Supersampling.

Trivia

  • This vehicle is considered to be one of the Easter Eggs in Just Cause 3.
  • This vehicle is one of the very few that has no engine. Others are small wooden boats at some coastal settlements, that do float, but they’re very difficult to balance and can’t be controlled.
  • Mario probably used it as his race car in his early days on Medici. That would explain why he uses it.
  • This vehicle is needed for the «Endless Runner» and consequently «Feat Fetish» Just Cause 3 Achievements.
  • In certain locations Mario will drive The Rocket alongside Rico. He drives just like any other AI driver, and can be forcibly removed from the vehicle by grappling onto and riding in the car. When this happens, Mario is thrown out of the vehicle and stands motionless wherever he landed (see the gallery below).
  • Despite its engine-less nature, The Rocket can oddly explode in the same way as any car, especially when jumping out while moving.
  • A few other vehicles in the Just Cause game series that have racing numbers are Mugello Farina Duo, Custom Geschwind and Makoto MZ 250.
  • Reportedly the file responsible for this vehicle is called «v0866_car_na_ladbil_civilian_01», which may be relevant to modifying.
  • The fact that Mario spawns in it and you can race him is an easter egg to the Mario Kart game series.

Ranks

Note that in the military, ranks and jobs are not the same thing. Someone can be a captain (rank) and work as a base commander (job).

NPC uniform tags list:

  • Classe private.
  • Sergeant
  • Commandante.
  • Classe tirators selectionate.

Private

  • The above «regular soldiers» and «motorcycle soldiers» are probably privates.
  • Di Ravello mentions a private Bonnet in his collectable audio-diary.

Private is the lowest rank.

Drill Sergeant

Di Ravello mentions a drill sergeant Dushku in his collectable audio-diary.

A drill sergeant is a drill instructor. Different militaries, or branches of military, can have different terms for this, such as «drill sergeant» (who presumably works as a drill instructor and holds a rank of «sergeant»). In any case, this is the person who personally trains (instructs) the soldiers (privates).

Sergeant Major

Drill sergeant Dushku was promoted to this rank. Note that this is a type of major, not a type of sergeant.

Sergeant major is a relatively high rank that differs greatly by country. It is normally just below colonel. While this rank was originally a command officer rank in the 17th century, in modern times, sergeant major is an appointment given to warrant officers in most armies except the USA and a few other exceptions where it’s a rank of enlisted personnel (E-9) with several grades.

Di Ravello was promoted to this on .

A colonel is normally just below brigadier general.

Generals

  • De Luca was a «brigadier general». A brigadier general is normally the lowest level of general. The term originates from a few centuries ago when a person of this rank, also known as just a «brigadier», commanded a «brigade» (about 4000 soldiers (4 battalions)).
  • Sebastiano Di Ravello is a «general».

Trivia

  • During Welcome Home, the three D.R.M. grunts attacking Mario wield U-39 Plechovkas. There is only one other place such an occurrence can be seen.
  • Replacing the police with a militia would be not a good idea as they are mostly less trained than police officers making them not as effective as the police.
  • After a recent update, the D.R.M now sometimes respond in Medici Police Department Stria Joias.
  • Many players mistake the Medici Military for the D.R.M.
  • According to the Propaganda Van, prospective members of the D.R.M. must provide their own ski masks.
  • According to mission dialogue in «Derailed Extraction», they own an airfield somewhere along the railway line. This could be referring to the unnamed airfield in Maestrale but they have no presence there or anywhere along the train line, so this could be assumed as cut game content from Just Cause 3.

Members

Sebastiano Di Ravello is the commander-in-chief of Medici’s armed forces, so he indirectly commands them.

Militiaman

Militiamen wear ski masks with three red stripes that make them look like terrorists, although they are technically official authorities. These are equipped with U-55S Pozhar pistols. When they are guarding a captain, they are equipped with either dual wielded Prizrak U4 SMGs or, more commonly, CS Wraith 225R SMGs. In some dialogue, members of the Medici Military refer to D.R.M. militiamen as the «stupid ones who didn’t pass training», so they might be failed Military soldiers.

Elite militiaman

Elite militiamen wear ski masks, police riot helmets, and what appears to be riot control body armor. They are equipped with the Prizrak U4 SMGs. They can also be found in some towns and cities wielding the Pozhar.

Captain

D.R.M. captains are equipped military-grade armor compared to an elite’s riot armor as well as a helmet with a visor, making them a lot tougher than all other unit types. They appear as assassination targets as part of town Liberations. They are equipped with the Urga Vdova 89, an LMG that can prove deadly up close. They can also be found in some towns and cities using the Pozhar.

Trivia

  • Compared to the not so successful sales of Just Cause 4 and it’s other DLCs (On Steam, 61% of the base game’s reviews were positive, as of 17 Aug 2021), the Danger Rising received much better reception (with 88% reviews being positive). According to this, the developers listened to the suggestions and criticism of players and reviewers and addressed some of them in Danger Rising.
  • The Agency is known to possess advanced technology, such as personal shields, which were previously mentioned at the end of the Bavarium Sea Heist DLC for Just Cause 3. The Agency also has some bavarium due to their past alliance with Sebastiano Di Ravello, although their supply is surely limited, because that alliance ended and the new government of Medici doesn’t want to sell that technology, or resource. Ultimately there doesn’t appear to be any Bavarium in this DLC.
  • This DLC was initially known as «Danger» and later as «Agency Strikes Back», before finally being renamed to «Danger Rising».
  • Danger Rising is unlocked immediately after the mission Agency Distress Beacon, but story-wise it makes almost no sense to do the DLC before Operation Illapa.
    • The problem with the DLC taking place before is the final mission Rogue Agent, which makes some statements implying almost certainly that Operation Illapa has already been completed.
    • On the other hand, if the Agency knew of Rico’s intentions to destroy Illapa and overthrow the Espinosa Dynasty rule, then they would be motivated to intervene in order to save their interests. Also, the Agency was aware of Rico’s presence in Solis long before Operation Illapa, thanks to the homing device in his grappler.

Game modes

According to the trailer, official site and a Square Enix press release, there are four game modes.

As mentioned in a in the video description (at youtube) of the second trailer, «As you start your journey as an agent, Rico Rodriguez & Annika Svensson will be among the mercenaries you’ll encounter, giving your player character missions and intel.»

It should be noted that Rico’s profession is not a full-time mercenary, even if it is stated in the posts.

Single-player campaign

Main article: Category:Just Cause: Mobile Missions.

The game is set in Pradesh, a fictional nation. The player plays as a customizeable protagonist, who is an Agency recruit and later Firebrand agent. From what can be seen from early access gameplay, the story seems to focus around the Agency’s conflict with Darkwater, remnants of the now disbanded Black Hand, as well as the protagonist’s hatred of Rico Rodriguez, who allegedly killed the protagonist’s family.

Quote from an article from some sort of Square Enix «press»:

«Experience an all new action-packed story set in the Just Cause universe. As a member of the Agency’s secret program, Firebrand, explore large open-world locations and take on Darkwater forces and form alliances with well-known characters from past Just Cause iterations.«

Quote from a post on the official Just Cause Mobile Discord server:

«Rico Rodriguez & Annika Svensson are among the mercenaries you’ll encounter, giving your player character valuable intel as you start your journey as an agent!
In Just Cause: Mobile, you play as a new recruit in a special ops division named Firebrand. Rico will be one of the characters you meet as you take on a new militarized threat… Darkwater.«

As revealed over social media on 2021.05.31:

«Your first day as a new Firebrand agent gets off to an explosive start! A private army known as Darkwater attacks your base, leaving chaos in its wake. Your task is to investigate Darkwater and uncover its true motivations before regional tensions escalate into something worse…«

Co-op battles

Quote from the Square Enix press:

«Team up in a 4-player squad to complete challenging missions where players will take on waves of enemies. Select the perfect loadout and blast your way through tough enemies like heavy tanks and armoured mechs!«

«Triple threat» multiplayer

Quote from the Square Enix press:

«Compete online in fast-paced Just Cause multiplayer! Three teams of 10 players fight to secure bases and score points as they battle across a sprawling map while wielding an explosive arsenal of weaponry & vehicles. Players can also form clans with teammates to earn big rewards.«

Challenge mode

Quote from the Square Enix press:

«Looking for an extra challenge to test your skills? Challenge Mode will task you with hitting high scores across three distinct challenges ranging from causing destruction to getting the best lap time. Earn extra rewards for your agent by completing the Destruction, Wingsuit and Race challenges.«

Locations

Citate Di Ravello

Citate Di Ravello in an early screenshot has a communication mast in the area between the old town and Di Ravello’s palace. For unknown reasons the communication mast does not appear in the released game.

Le Galera

Le Galera is depicted at 4:01 in the «This is Just Cause 3» trailer as having high voltage power lines in the beta. The line lead from the docks to the electrical station in the «first» courtyard. This does not appear in the final game.

Sirocco

In an early screenshot, the destructible concrete bridge connecting Sirocco Nord and Sirocco Sud is missing. The road leads up to the place where the bridge should be, suggesting the screen shot was taken mid development.

The gas station north of Cirilla is missing. Cirilla, and Sirocco itself by extension has more dense foliage.

Vigilator Nord

In Nerd Cubed’s first video on the game, the military radar array is in much better condition and there is a Stria Obrero with explosive barrels. This does not appear in the final game.

Removed towns

If you look closely at the bus stops’ timetables you can see some towns that are not in the game. It is unknown whether they are just the unmarked towns or the towns mentioned were meant to be in the game but were scrapped.

Possibly more rigs at Scolio

It has been discovered that the game files contain fragments of additional offshore rigs and 1 airport around Scolio (area added in the Bavarium Sea Heist DLC). These items do not appear in the game, unless they’re loaded with a mod.

The file responsible for them is «dlc3_satellite_base_test.bl», so they might just have been meant for game developers to test game features. The file is located at dlc > bavarium_sea_heist > locations > sea > dlc3_satellite_base_test.bl

Additional settlement, or outpost

Somewhere in Val de Mar (co-ordinates needed) is a spot of land with no buildings, or other items of interest on it. It can be identified by being completely flat and about the size of an average outpost. It is believed that the developers wanted to add some kind of an additional settlement/outpost there, but reconsidered, or forgot about the prepared spot. Or maybe, in-universe, the Medici Military, or civilians had prepared a spot and hadn’t gotten around to building there yet?

Colle Salrosa

Strangely, when Alessia reports on this town being liberated, she will state something along the lines of «…no more speaker towers, statues, or propaganda vans. We must never stop fighting!» However, a Propaganda Van never spawned here. This may be some kind of cut game content.

Altered names for vehicles, weapons and locations

A select few famous gamers on Youtube were each allowed to play the game prior to release for a total of one day and upload gameplay videos. These videos had different names for many items. Those videos also often had different tags on them, like «Pre-alpha», «Visuals not final» and such.

Weapons

Renamed weapons

  • «CSV» became CS27 Misfortune.
  • «Fireleach» became Fire Leech.
  • «URGA Vdova» became Urga Vdova 89.
  • «UP39» was renamed to «UP-39» and then renamed again to U-39 Plechovka.
  • «UP-61» became UPM61.
  • «UPU 210» became UPU-210.
  • «UVK 13» became UVK-13.

Cut/modified weapon concepts

  • While never seen in-game, there is rebel graffiti showing what appears to be an AK-47 like rifle.
  • In one promotional screenshot Rico is walking towards a spray-painted police station and he has two different pistols, or revolvers in different holsters. It’s unknown what those pistols are.
  • The Art of Just Cause 3 book shows a version of the CS110 Archangel in-game, and another version of this weapon resembling the Barrett M82.
  • In the image section in this page, there is an image showing 5 concepts for an Unknown Capstone LMG(The image is no 15 in the weapons gallery and it is named «Unknown Capstone Weapon»), This weapon in V005 of the concept drawing looks like a number of weapons, including the FN Minimi (M249 SAW), Stoner LMG, H&K MG4, and perhaps the IWI Negev.
  • In the image section in this page, image 11 under «Weapons» shows 15 concept drawings for a «M111» weapon concept. It appears to be an assault rifle/DMR of sorts, depending on the version of the concept. It bears resemblance to the M4 carbine, SIG SG 553, ArmaLite AR-18, HK 416/, Omen Watchman, and SCAR 20.
  • Image 6 of the weapons gallery shows 9 concept drawings of the CS Spectre Mark V. Concept V004 resembles the M1911, FN FNP-45 and the Beretta 92. In V007, it looks more like an IWI Desert Eagle, also resembling the AMT Automag V and the LAR Grizzly Win Mag.

Location names

  • «Corda Dracon: Torre Central» became Corda Dracon: Centcom.
  • Cava Montana was called a «Bavarium Base» in the pre-release promotional video titled «Bavarium Base Takedown».
  • Porto Vena might have been called «Porto Sirocco» at one point in development. In the Di Ravello tapes, the character De Luca was a brigadier general at this «Porto Sirocco». It is possible that «Sirocco» could’ve been split into Sirocco Sud and Sirocco Nord and the port subsequently renamed as well.

Vehicle names

According to a leaked screenshot and some game files, all vehicles seem to have been named something else initially and the names «Urga», «Autostraad», «Mugello» and «Stria» were in most cases added later. The JC3 internal vehicle list can also be used to find some outdated names.

  • «Autostraad D70» became Autostraad D700.
  • «Kletterer 300» became Autostraad Kletterer 300.
  • «CS Assault Chopper» became CS Navajo.
  • «Placeholder Name» became Stria Obrero.
  • «Mugello Delphino GLF» became Weaponized Pescespada SS.
  • «Urga Pocomaxa X4» became Weaponized Urga Ogar.
  • «Eubus Eagle» (duplicate) became News Chopper. The pre-launch Rebel drop listed two Eubus Eagles.
  • «Kensington Serpente R» became «Kerner Serpente R12» and then Kerner Serpente R.
  • The brand name «Stria» was renamed from «Solar».
  • Game files call the U41 Ptakojester by the following names:
    • «v4603_plane_urga_cargotransport_mm340» — This one drops paratroopers during a mission.
    • «v4603_plane_urga_cargotransport_military_cargo_tank» — This one is programmed to contain an armored vehicle, but it’s not used.
    • «v4603_plane_urga_cargotransport_military_cargo_paratrooper».
  • Stria Kavala has a «LR-V» badge.

JC3 style explosions

Trailers and pre-release a gameplay footage show that early versions of Just Cause 4 used explosions from Just Cause 3. The old JC3 style explosions are a simpler mass of flat-looking yellow-white fire with some black clouds. At some point during development, the older explosion animations were replaced by more complex fireballs with more fiery-looking, multi-colored flames.

And speaking of multi-colored flames, the explosions in JC1 normally have small amounts of blue colors to indicate the presence of odd other chemicals in the fire.

JC3 style explosion in JC4.

Old explosion animation used in JC4 trailer.

Newer, more realistic explosion animation in the released version.

Performance

Explosions are much bigger than usual. The explosion is first a bright white flash, immediately followed by a huge mushroom cloud roiling upwards, with some lightning-like energy zapping around it. The explosion is about 20-30 meters in diameter and 30-40 meters tall. Anything hit by it simply gets deleted by the explosion, with only its shadow remaining. Even Bavarium shielded vehicles cannot resist the explosion and will be instantly destroyed.

The explosion this weapon produces is almost identical from the explosion of the Bavarium Nuke FOW that the Falco Maxime: Centcom military base fires at you. It can also destroy surrounding objects such as planes.

It can almost destroy entire outposts in one hit.

It is arguably the strongest player-usable weapon in the game, as it can take out an entire SATCOM Dish in one hit. To balance its high power, the warheads will arc and to hit longer distance targets one should aim above the target slightly so the missile will hit your target.

Needless to say, the power of this weapon is enough to kill the player –– or anything else in the game (that’s destructible), for that matter –– in one hit.

Game editions and DLC

Main article: Downloadable content for Just Cause 4.

Just Cause 4 is a confusing mess of numerous different editions. See Downloadable content for Just Cause 4 for a list of all editions and their included content. If you’re looking for Just Cause 4 with all DLC, get the Complete Edition, not the «Gold», «Digital Deluxe» or «Reloaded» editions.

Unlike with JC3, there didn’t seem to be a disk edition of the PC version. Looking hard enough, it was possible to find at least 1 site that lists a PC DVD version, but all other sites have JC4 listed as a «download», or as a «Steam code». The console versions, however, were pictured as the box/disk version at most online stores.

See the Downloadable content for Just Cause 4 article for a full list of pre-order bonuses and other DLCs. All pre-order items have been released as separate DLC.

Expansion Pass

The game has 3 expansion packs (similarly to Just Cause 3 expansions) called «Dare Devils of Destruction», «Los Demonios» and «Danger Rising».

See Downloadable content for Just Cause 4 for full info about the expansion packs.

Name

The exact definition of «FOW» is never revealed in the game. It is sometimes pronounced as an abbreviation, whilst at other times it is pronounced as an acronym. The letter «W» likely stands for Weapon.

  • In the German version of the game they are called «HSW», further supporting this theory, since the German word for weapon is «Waffe», which also starts with a «W».
  • In the Russian version it’s «УИП», but in Russian the word for weapon is «Оружие». However, their word for «gun/cannon» is «Пушка».

Speculated names include:

  • «Flames of War» — This is the only evidence-based speculation. Di Ravello says these words several times through the story.
  • «Final Opinion Weapon»
  • «F**k Off Weapon» (in the same spirit as the infamous BFG 9000 from the Doom series)
  • «F**king Overpowered Weapon»
  • «Forward Operating Weapon»
  • «Field Offensive Weapon»
  • «Final Offensive Weapon»
  • «Forward Offensive Weapon»
  • «Force Of Will»
  • «Field Operating Weapon»
  • «Fortress Operated Weapon»

There’s a rumor that the developers had thought of «FOW» as a temporary name that didn’t mean anything, but because higher ranking developers kepts using that term all the time, it ended up in the game just like that.

Trivia

  • An M488 warhead creates what might be the largest explosion from a handheld weapon in a Just Cause game.
    • Hence, this is likely the most powerful- or one of the most powerful- handheld weapons in the entire Just Cause Game Series

The eDEN Spark can be considered a close second due to its massive damage output and infinite ammo.

      .

  • Normal small military outposts, like Guardia Plagia II, can not be destroyed in a single hit. However, reportedly communication outposts (like maybe Guardia Sirocco III) can be destroyed with a single hit.
  • The M488 makes the same explosion as the Z80 bomb in the «crash bomb»challenge.
  • This weapon shares the ability to delete objects with the eDEN Spark.
  • This weapon could be American made because it seems to have the and the real M-388 was a U.S.-designed weapon. However, this is just speculation.

Air, Land & Sea expansion pass

This is provided with the game for anyone who bought the «XL» edition of the game. Anyone else can purchase it separately.

It includes a pass to obtain the «Sky Fortress», Mech Land Assault» and «Bavarium Sea Heist» expansion packs 7 days early and also contains «Exclusive Flame Wingsuit and Parachute skins».

Sky Fortress

Main articles: Sky Fortress and Category:Sky Fortress.

It features a new enemy faction — eDEN Corporation — that uses advanced Bavarium-based technology, lots of armed Drones, and a large flying ship — eDEN Airship. There are 3 relatively long missions.

Mech Land Assault

Main articles: Mech Land Assault and Category:Mech Land Assault.

It adds a new island group to the map: Insula Lacrima. Lacrima has lots of abandoned old eDEN Corporation research bases, which have been taken over by the Black Hand, who have their own plans for it. There’s also a new friendly faction, Former Prisoners of Lacrima (unofficial name) and new weaponized vehicles, the Mechs, which are equipped with gravity-manipulation devices. The DLC has 2 relatively long missions, but the number of gameplay hours is much greater, thanks to the new areas to explore and liberate, 2 new challenges and new technologies to use.

Bavarium Sea Heist

Main articles: Bavarium Sea Heist and Category:Bavarium Sea Heist.

The end of the Mech Land Assault DLC hints that the Black Hand have something at sea. What they have was left unknown.

The Sea Heist features enormous off-shore rigs and new eDEN Corporation technology that can control lightning. All these things are located at Scolio, an area of the sea off the western coast. The area has a cluster of smaller rigs, several of which are half sunken and a large main rig, called Stingray.

This DLC provides 2 new missions, 5 new completable areas to take over, and 1 new challenge. It also provides the weaponized Loochador rocket boat and the Eden Spark, a device that can summon natural lightning at the target.
