Background[]
Ajantis is the only paladin of Helm companion in the original game and a member of the Most Noble Order of the Radiant Heart. He originally hails from Waterdeep and is Keldorn’s squire.
Biography
“ | When asked about his past, AJANTIS announces that he is a squire paladin of the Most Noble Order of the Radiant Heart, and that he enforces the power and discipline of Helm.
He belongs to the noble family of Ilvastarr in Waterdeep and has studied swordplay under such luminaries as Myrmith Splendon. His skill and devotion apparently brought him to the attention of the paladin Keldorn, one of the most respected of the Order, who decided to take Ajantis under his wing as a squire. Recently Ajantis has asked for the honor of becoming a full-fledged member of the Order. To accomplish this, he has traveled to the Sword Coast in order to help curtail the increased humanoid activity in the region. If he succeeds in his quest, the Order will vote on his eligibility for membership. He seems utterly devoted to his mission. |
” |
Personality
Ajantis is a hot-headed do-gooder who senses evil everywhere and is rather quick to jump to conclusions. He is determined and dutiful and not afraid to die for the greater good. But he´s also rather naive and sees the world in only black and white. Furthermore, he is a gentleman and will make sure people behave when women are around.
History[]
Early Life
Jaheira was born in the 14th century into a noble Tethyrian family aligned with King Alemander IV. She was still still a child during the Ten Black Days of Eleint on the eve of the Tethyrian Interregnum.
Jaheira was orphaned when her parents were killed by a mob of angry peasants. Fortunately, she was saved by one of the serving girls during the uprising, fleeing family’s castle with her to the Forest of Tethir. Soon after, they met an enclave of druids, that later accepted Jaheira into their community. She took on the role of a druid in service to the Oak Father Silvanus.
At some point Jaheira met Dermin Courtierdale, the man who introduced her to the Harpers and mentored her in the ways of their teachings. While with the Harpers, Jaheira met and fell in love with Khalid, a fellow half-elf who hailed from Calimshan. Despite the stark contrast in their characters, the two married in short time.
At some point Jaheira and her associates exposed the Calishite businessman Baron Ployer as a breeder of slaves, destroying his reputation within the realm.
Sword Coast Adventures
In the Year of the Banner, 1368 DR, Jaheira and Khalid were sent on behalf of the Harpers to investigate the iron crisis and the Nashkel mines. They stayed at the Friendly Arm Inn and awaited the arrival of their friend and fellow Harper, Gorion. Unfortunately, Gorion was slain as he tried to smuggle his adopted son Abdel Adrian out of Candlekeep to safety. Jaheira and Khalid welcome them and shared their plans to investigate the troubling goings-on that afflicted the Sword Coast.
After the Iron Crisis was put to a stop and the schemes of Sarevok Anchev were foiled, Jaheira and Khalid traveled to Boareskyr Bridge. They were tasked with investigating the growing Shining Crusade and its leader, the charismatic Caelar Argent. When the crusade invaded, Khalid led the nearby townsfolk into Bridgefort while the chaos left Jaheira stranded outside.
In order to get inside the fort, Jaheira sought an abandoned abandoned temple of Bhaal that had recently been repurposed by Cyricists. During her journey she picked up the warrior-skald Voghiln and reunited with her ally who was then regarded as the Hero of Baldur’s Gate.
Jaheira as she appeared in Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms.
Time in Amn
Following the defeat of the Shining Crusade in the Year of the Gauntlet, 1369 DR, Abdel Adrian was framed for murder, briefly imprisoned in Baldur’s Gate, and discreetly released from holding. Jaheira and Khalid were quick to join up with them once again, alongside their friends Imoen, Minsc, and Dynaheir. Soon after they set out from Baldur’s Gate the adventurers became clouded by mist, and captured by a group of Shadow Thieves.
Jaheira woke up in a dungeon deep beneath the city of Athkatla in Amn. Some of her fellow companions were also imprisoned while others, such as Khalid, had already been killed. Their captor was the elven wizard from Suldanessellar who had fallen from their grace, Jon Irenicus.
The Black Pits II: Gladiators of Thay[]
Voghiln — this time under the title Voghiln the Vast — reappears as one of the gladiators in the new Black Pits.

Dialogues
Augh, mine head! By the Oakfather’s leafy arse, I’ve never met a woman who could drink like that! One minute I’m singing with an ale in one hand and a wench in the other, and then I wake up here… Where in the Nine Hells am I?
I do not know why we were brought here. I am thinking I was snatched for my fame in fighting, drinking, and my way with the ladies.
Ho ho, what have we here? Come raise a flagon with me! We’ll drink till we die in the arena… or the bar. The bar is more likely for me.
Voghiln’s the name. A fighter, drinker, and lover… though not necessarily in that order.
Good at fighting? You could say that. I killed a dozen tundra yeti barehanded! Barehanded! You’ve heard of tundra yeti, yes?
Twice as tall as a man and thrice as wide. Claws and fangs like daggers. Reminds me of me, now I think of it, except for the claws and fangs, of course.
I was escorting a caravan from the Ten Towns south to Luskan. We made camp for the night. I told them not to, but they didn’t listen to Voghiln.
In the middle of the night, a pack of yetis attacked. In the chaos, I lost my axe. I had to rip one of their hairy arms off and use it to club the others to death.
The devils had killed the oxen and most of the guards. I had to pull the wagons to Luskan myself, fighting yetis and bandits the whole way!
Saying Voghiln knows a thing or two about women is like saying Elminster can cast a few spells! I know things about women they don’t even know about themselves. |
Personality
Voghiln is stereotypical Viking-type: He loves to drink, he loves to fight and loves to have beautiful women around him. Ideally all at once. All of that is crowned with an over-the-top Saxon accent. And let’s not forget that he likes speaking of himself in third person. Underneath his rude behavior and his inability to be faithful however, lurks a funny and charming fellow who’s got his heart in the right place.
Trivia
Voghiln is one of the many characters in the Enhanced Editions, including the other two companions: Rasaad and Baeloth, who is voiced by Mark Meer.

Relationships[]
- Ajantis will eventually attack any of the evil party members, but you can call him off by controlling him to do something else. You can also prevent an altercation from taking place by having Xan on the same party, as he will talk Ajantis down before things come to blows. Because Ajantis responds this way to all evil party members, individual evil characters will only be covered below if there is some interaction between the two beyond this.
- Ajantis gets along well with Branwen. He likes her and thinks she’s beautiful, and she respects him for his prowess as a warrior.
- Ajantis also has a bit of a thing for Dynaheir, and will compliment her appearance. She responds positively to him, appreciating his decency.
- Edwin is actively disdainful towards Ajantis and will frequently insult him. As with all evil party members, Ajantis will eventually attack him.
- Ajantis especially dislikes Eldoth — In addition to his usual interactions with evil party members, Ajantis will regularly chastise Eldoth regarding his conduct towards the rest of the party.
- Ajantis disapproves of Faldorn’s behavior and the way she approaches things.
- There is a strong mutual respect between Ajantis and Garrick, who both see each other as men of honor.
- Kagain is disdainful towards Ajantis and sees him as an altruistic moron. As with all evil characters, Ajantis will eventually attack Kagain.
- Ajantis gets along with Khalid very well.
- There is a strong mutual respect between Ajantis and Kivan.
- Quayle really rubs Ajantis the wrong way, but that’s not too surprising, seeing as he has that effect on almost everyone.
- Ajantis and Safana have a rather interesting relationship. Ajantis disapproves of Safana’s conduct and will chastise her for it, but at the same time, he does not discourage her frequent advances and in fact seems to rather enjoy the attention.
- Skie gets along well with Ajantis and sees him as a good friend.
- Though Ajantis will, as previously mentioned, eventually attack any evil party members, Tiax in particular will try to actively provoke him, throwing insults at him.
- Viconia is disdainful towards Ajantis and will try to boss him around. As with all evil party members, Ajantis will eventually attack her.
- Xan does not think highly of Ajantis and believes he is a man of hollow convictions and a shallow view of the world who is too eager to rush to his death. Ajantis, however, seems to genuinely respect Xan’s opinions and advice — in fact, Xan is the only one who can talk Ajantis down and prevent him from attacking evil party members.
- Yeslick enjoys Ajantis’s company and sees him as a friend.
- Ajantis despises Dorn Il-Khan and if he joins the party, Ajantis will leave. However, if Ajantis joins the party after Dorn, Dorn will not leave. They will still eventually fight though.

She says that you of all people should know, seeing as how you grew up together.Indeed, some of your fondest memories are of meeting this sprightly young lass.
