Requirements

Seed

For technical reasons, you need to know the seed of your world to use Seed Map, unless, of course, you want to find a seed for a new world. If you’re playing SSP, the app is able to fetch the seed from your savegame. Alternatively, you can use the /seed command ingame. In SMP, you can use the same command if you have sufficient rights. Otherwise, however, you’re dependent on the server owner, who started the world and has access to the savegame and config files.

Browser

This app uses some relatively new web technologies. As a result, some features may be disabled for older browsers. I recommend using the latest version of a major browser such as Chrome, Firefox, Edge or Safari.

the Code

An exceptionally clever and intelligently-designed brain bender, the Code contains a corridor of fiendish puzzles to crack. Solving them provides you with a code which, when written down on a piece of paper and thrown down a hopper, opens the next door. The puzzles are all exceptionally varied, ranging from mathematical conundrums to tests of speed and strength. Thankfully, there’s an in-game hint system, but we totally didn’t need it.

Portalcraft

Imitation is the highest form of flattery, and if there is any puzzle game out there that deserves some, it is Portal. Portalcraft recreates Aperture Science with uncanny accuracy, replicating not only the look, feel, and mechanics of the Portal games, but its puzzles too. There are a few noticeable Minecraft-isms (lifts and doors aren’t slickly automated), but the fact that portals work and momentum still matters is impressive.

The Puzzle Cube

The Puzzle Cube is a Minecraft map with a great gimmick: you can walk on the sides of the cube. Starting on the cube’s exterior, you need to solve puzzles on all sides to progress to the centre chamber.

Instead of you falling off when you walk over the edge of a cube, the gravity will flip, and you will continue walking down the next side. The conundrums escalate in difficulty at a fair rate. It is also playable in multiplayer, the best way to play this Minecraft map.

Beyond Perception

The simple concept of this Minecraft map is what sets it apart in the crowded puzzle genre: by turning your shading on or off, you can make certain objects appear and disappear, leading to a brilliant puzzler where you do not know what is really there and what is not.

Enigma Island

Dead by Minecraft

This map is a riff on the horror video game Dead by Daylight. Best enjoyed with 3-5 players, split yourself into two teams; Survivors or the Killer. A failing electric generator escalates the panic to deliver pure fright throughout.

Ruins of the Dead

Ancient underground temple? Check. Wave after wave of flesh-eating zombies? Check. Hidden chests of armour, weapons, and loot? Check.

Ruins of the Dead is an excellent zombie survival map thanks to its progressive loot game and increasing difficulty. There is even a deviously challenging final undead foe for anyone who can get through the 16 waves of increasingly challenging undead.

Wandering

Rife with jump-scares and haunting from the first few steps, Wandering is an unforgettable Minecraft map. You play as Jack, a 30-year-old man returning home after a tiring day at work… only someone – or something – has followed you …

Arctic

Washed up in the Arctic tundra with nothing but your own body to rely on, Arctic demands that you set up digs in the desolate ice fields and gradually build a thriving settlement for you and your survivor pals Jozsef and Mr. Maillet. By cultivating crops and maintaining a farm you can eventually throw the ultimate hot tub party. The premise is as silly as they come, but Arctic is beautiful and calming in its isolation.

Containment Survival 2

A clever twist on Portal, Containment Survival 2 has you progress through a selection of containment cells, each containing a unique biome. Ushered through by a mad AI, you are to complete survival challenges on a tight time limit. Using a superb collection of voiceovers, the AI will hassle and demean you as you attempt to escape. A well-designed sequence of environments and challenges cements Containment Survival 2 as one of the best Minecraft maps.

Wild West

Woah there cowpoke! This may not be the gunslinging frontier of Red Dead Redemption, but this adventure map captures the feel of the Wild West. The smoothing sunset, vast canyons, and the street purposefully set up for epic duelling make this Minecraft map the perfect arena for fulfilling your stetson-wearing fantasies.

Taming Minecraft horses is just as much a part of life on the ranch as it is life in Mojang’s sand blocks. Capturing monsters using cactus-based traps less so, but we are quite happy to give that a go as well. The only thing you’ll be missing is a playlist of the best music from Ennio Morricone playing in the background to set the mood.

Survival Island

Survival Island is the classic original, the Coca-Cola of custom-built survival maps. It builds its legacy its high difficulty but, that sweetens its rewards. A house of twigs is a true achievement, and when you are the king of your own castle you know you worked to earn it. Lazy comparison klaxon: Survival Island is Dark Souls meets Minecraft.

SkyBlock

SkyBlock, like Survival Island above, is one of the ‘original’ custom Minecraft maps; it lacks frills and vistas, but offers a rock-solid challenge. Just take the scavenging suffering of Survival Island and suspend it thousands of feet in the sky.

Your little L-shaped dirt pile is the only resource you have, and, thus, plenty of ingenuity and a mind for conservation is required. With the right smarts, you will be amazed what you can harvest from a tree and several blocks of dirt. Play this one with friends if you dare.

Sphere Survival

An interesting twist on the classic SkyBlock formula, Sphere Survival puts you on gigantic spheres and sends you on your merry way to attempt to bridge to the map’s other spherical worlds while fending off creepers and other nasties: this Minecraft map is a survivalist’s dream come true

Trivia[]

• Use of the F1 key can allow the player to hold a map without blocking their view at all.
• In Java Edition, a map created using can be any map by using the Map parameter to specify the map number desired. E.g. gives the specified player map_5. If no data value is supplied it defaults to map_0. If map_0 has not ever been crafted, it is centered on x=0, z=0.
• The maps are stored separately as their own data () file as with (x) being the map number, see map item format for more info. By manipulating this number, players can organize their maps to suit them, or if they accidentally create a map in the same location, they can delete their extra map so as to save the number they make.
• Certain programs can be used to make customized maps with images or text on them instead of actual maps, many people use these in adventure maps to show pictures or to tell a story.
• Since all copies of a map are links to the same file, copying an unfinished map keeps it synchronized with the copy as the player fills it in. Thus, a copy stored in a chest can act as a remote backup.
• A map that is in an item frame does not update itself until a player picks it up, lets it reload, and places it back again. However, if a player holds a clone of the map, both maps update.
• Filled maps are the only items that make 90 degree rotations in item frames, and also the only items that can expand the item frame into full block wide.
• On Legacy Console Edition, the player always spawns with a map in their inventory after creating a world. This was later added to Bedrock Edition as an optional feature in the world creation menu.
• Maps on Legacy Console Edition always show the player’s current coordinates, as a substitute for the optional coordinate display in other editions.
• A map cannot be created on New Nintendo 3DS Edition. Instead, the map is always displayed on the bottom screen along with the coordinates.

Limitations

Some features are not 100% accurate, i.e., locations can be wrong or missing. These include:

• Dungeons
• End Cities on Bedrock Edition
• World Spawn Positions

Various other structures such as villages and igloos can sometimes fail to generate in-game as well.

Let me know in the comments if you find any wrong or missing locations. Please make sure that:

• you entered the seed and coordinates correctly
• you selected the correct edition and version (the one used to generate the region you look at)
• you don’t use any mods that affect the world generation
• (for slime chunks) you waited long enough, since they have a very low spawn rate even in slime chunks

Usage

Seed Selection

The first thing you should do is select a seed and version. You can either type it in manually, or you can load it from your savegame. The latter can be done by clicking on «Load from Save…» and selecting your level.dat, or by drag&dropping the level.dat file into your browser window. Level.dat is a small file located in the folder of every Minecraft savegame. You can find the savegames in the saves folder of your Minecraft installation. On Windows you can use %appdata%\.minecraft\saves to get to that folder.

You should also know that a seed is always a number (up to around 20 digits). If you type in anything else (like letters), it will be converted to a number. The app does this the same way Minecraft does, so it’s safe to use letters (and other characters) as well.

Dimension and Feature Selection

Below the seed and version, you can also choose the Minecraft dimension that you want to view (Overworld, Nether or End). This, and the version you use, will affect which features can be enabled. To toggle certain features, click on the icons in the features box just above the map.

You can also expand and collapse features box by clicking the arrow on the right side of the box to show the full names of the features, as well as some more options.

Note that some features will only show if you zoomed in enough. This is to keep the app fast and to not flood it with icons. The app will show a warning and all affected features will be highlighted once that happens.

Navigation

Once you entered all the options you can start using the map. To scroll, use your arrow keys while your mouse cursor points at the map, or move your mouse while holding down the left mouse button. You can use the slider below the map or your mousewheel for zooming. The lower inputs allow you to go to a specific point (e.g., your base) of the map and set a marker there. You can always remove and add the marker by double clicking on the map. The «Save Map» button allows you to save the currently shown map as png image file.

Selecting structure locations

You can click or tap on the icons on the map to see their exact coordinates in the game. For some structures, additional details are shown as well.

Touchscreen

When using a touch-enabled device, an extra option for enabling/disabling touchscreen control will appear below the map. With that option enabled, you can drag the map with your finger to navigate, you can pinch to zoom in and out, and you can tap and hold to set a marker on the map. By double tapping on the map, you can quickly enable/disable the functionality as well.

Навигация нередко используется в мобильных устройствах. С помощью телефона можно быстро проложить маршрут во время поездки и не нужно брать с собой дополнительное GPS-устройство. Способ загрузки новых карт отличается в зависимости от установленного навигатора.

Вариант 1: Maps.Me

Мапс Ми – это бесплатный навигатор, который удобно использовать пешком и на автомобиле. Атласы содержат подробную информацию об интересных местах, магазинах, парках, кафе. С помощью приложения можно найти пляж или отель за границей, не включая интернет в роуминге.

Как скачать карты в Maps.Me:

1. Нажмите на кнопку в виде трех полосок, выберите опцию «Загрузить карты».
2. Тапните по клавише с плюсом, выберите страну или город из списка.
3. Для загрузки кликните по нужному атласу, нажмите на «Загрузить карту» в появившемся окне.

Время загрузки атласа зависит от его размера и скорости интернета. Заранее скачайте нужные регионы, чтобы не тратить интернет-трафик в роуминге.

Вариант 2: Яндекс.Навигатор

Навигация от Yandex может работать в онлайн-режиме и загружать нужную карту через интернет. При движении за городом возможны проблемы со связью. В этом случае пригодятся заранее скачанные атласы, которые можно загрузить бесплатно.

Как закачать карты в навигатор Яндекс:

1. Нажмите на кнопку вызова меню снизу справа, тапните по опции «Загрузка карт».
2. Тапните по окошку поиска, напечатайте название города или региона.
3. Для скачивания кликните по найденному результату, появится кнопка со стрелочкой, нажмите на нее.

Общий вес файлов зависит от выбранной местности. Не загружайте ненужные регионы, чтобы не переполнить память устройства.

Во время поездки офлайн-карты включаются автоматически. Если связь с интернетом восстановилась, навигатор переключится в обычный режим, загрузит информацию о пробках, камерах и дорожных событиях. Обновлять данные можно самостоятельно или настроить автоматическую загрузку файлов по WiFi.

Вариант 3: Google Карты

Скачать карту России для навигатора Google можно через меню. Для этого нужно подключить смартфон к интернету и выбрать нужный регион.

Установка карт в навигацию от Google выполняется следующим образом:

1. Запустите навигатор, кликните по клавише меню сверху слева.
2. Пролистайте список до пункта «Офлайн-карты», нажмите на клавишу со стрелкой и подписью «Выбрать карту».
3. Выберите нужный участок с помощью рамки, тапните по кнопке «Скачать».
4. Примерный размер атласа указан под рамкой.

С помощью рамки можно загрузить местность не только России, но и зарубежных городов.

Загруженные файлы могут занимать много места. Если в памяти устройства не хватает места, можно скачивание на флешку:

1. Кликните по шестеренке сверху справа, включите автоматическое обновление с помощью кнопки.
2. Кликните по строке «Хранение данных», выберите установленную флеш-карту.

Закачивать атласы для навигации Google можно бесплатно. Переключение в офлайн режим осуществляется автоматически при потере соединения с интернетом.
