Choosing a Character[]

See also: List of characters

When beginning an adventure, players are given the option to include up to 3 playable characters. There are no restrictions or limits on how many of each character can be included in a party. Character sheets can be reviewed before locking in a selection, in order to compare base stats, special abilities, or starting equipment.

With the various adventure styles and equipment choices presented in For The King, choosing the most beneficial character is an important step to victory. While most party compositions and classes will usually yield winning results on the difficulty level, players will need to carefully select the right combinations at the and especially difficulties in order to succeed.

The tiers below are based upon when Towns refresh their inventories. Tier 1 sets are present before the first town refresh. Tier 2 occurs after the first town refresh. There are a total of 5 town refreshes in a normal FTK campaign, with the final town refresh only increasing prices of consumables and town services.

Weapon Types[]

There are many different kinds of Weapons to be found throughout the land of Fahrul; some useful for their damage, some for their abilities, and others because they fetch a high price at the markets. You may even find yourself carrying extra weapons with you for certain situations, or even out of sentimentality. Whatever your reasons, choosing the right weapon for your character is vital to your party’s success.

Mainly spellbooks and tomes, but there are also other types.

Heavy two-handed weapons, but there are a few one-handed axes to choose from as well.

A multitude of swords, daggers, and knives.

Main article: Blunt

Heavy weapons, including everything from bones to hammers to an actual anchor.

Ranged two-handed weapons with a myriad of special abilities.

Speedy two-handed weapons capable of stunning or dazing enemies.

Disarmed characters can always use their fists.

Unarmed

Firearms, ranging from simple handguns to massive cannons.

A variety of physical damage weapons, useful for both offense and defense.

Two-handed magical weapons, although there are some other physically-attuned staves as well.

Not exactly weapons in their own right, they can still set an enemy on fire.

  GTX 10, тогда частоту кадров вполне реально поднять за счёт ускорения работы с

All players will always have access to four starter characters when beginning an adventure in For The King:

Though lacking experience in combat, the Blacksmith knows armor. Sometimes turning toward the enemy lets the armor absorb what would have been a staggering blow.

The Hunter is fast, precise and watchful. Skilled at avoiding danger while traveling overland or underground, the Hunter attacks with deadly accuracy in combat.

The Minstrel is formally educated in the performance of music and the recitation of great ballads. Such songs inspire companions to strive for excellence in combat, and to ponder well their shared experiences.

The tricky Busker might be considered weak, if ever caught in a fair fight. With music by turns entertaining and distracting, if the battle turns the Busker is also fleet of foot. Performing wherever people gather, this rascal is rarely short of coin.

The Woodcutter makes for a stalwart ally in combat, swinging weapons with considerable might. Even inanimate objects are swept aside, for an axe can smash as easily through wood and stone as flesh and bone.

«Lost» Characters

In addition to purchasing them from the Lore Store, some characters require that you first find them on the map during an adventure before they can be permanently unlocked for play. Other Armor Types[]

Clothing isn’t the only type of armor in For The King. Additionally, there are several hats, hoods, helmets, shoes, slippers, and boots that can be equipped for a diversity of cosmetic effects, stat boosts, and skill bonuses.

Headgear

The Helmet icon.

There is a wide variety of headgear in 3 basic types to choose from in For The King. And like body armor, headgear is mainly used to reduce incoming damage from enemies. Several hats and helmets will also impart immunities or special skills. Headgear is equipped in a character’s head slot.

Footwear

The Footwear icon.

Footwear is another type of armor in For The King that characters can equip to mitigate damage, boost stats, or impart valuable skills. Many types of footwear can also provide some kind of movement bonus.

Helpful examples of footwear are:

• Kamiik Boots
• Inferno Greaves

Weapon Attributes[]

Weapons in For the King can have different attributes:

Two-Handed

Characters with a Two-Handed weapon equipped will be unable to use a Shield or other weapons requiring the use of both hands, such as Bows or various Blades and Polearms. Dual-Wielded weapons are always Two-Handed; however Dual-Wield is technically a weapon type, and not an attribute per se.

Breakable

A Breakable weapon will break in battle if a character fails all stat checks during a single attack. When an equipped item breaks, that character will automatically switch to Unarmed combat, and will only be able to use their fists until a new weapon is equipped.

Unfocusable

Characters using Unfocusable weapons may not use Focus during an attack to secure perfect ability checks. In effect, all attacks made with an Unfocusable weapon will be naturally rolled.

Появляется чёрный экран в For The King

• Драйверы установлены/обновлены, но For The King всё равно отказывается работать
  нормально? Тогда нужно проверить ПО, установлены ли вообще необходимые библиотеки? В

• Если ничего из вышеописанного не дало нужного результата, тогда пора прибегнуть к
  радикальному способу решения проблемы: запускаете For The King и при появлении
  чёрного экрана нажимаете сочетание клавиш «Alt+Enter», чтобы игра переключилась на
  оконный режим. Так, возможно, откроется главное меню игры и удастся определить
  проблема в игре или нет. Если удалось перейти в оконный режим, тогда переходите в
  игровые настройки For The King и меняйте разрешение (часто получается так, что
  несоответствие разрешения игры и рабочего стола приводит к конфликту, из-за которого
  появляется чёрный экран).
• Причиной этой ошибки также могут послужить различные программы, предназначенные для

Shields[]

Main article: Shield

In addition to body armor, there are Shields in For The King as well. And like Armor, they too are used to reduce incoming damage from enemies.

Shields cannot be equipped alongside Two-Handed Weapons, so they’re more suited to characters who prefer to arm themselves with Daggers, Swords, Spears, Bludgeons, or even certain Guns. Most shields will impart Enemy Taunt, but some can also give a character other skills such as Support Range.

Shields come in two basic types:

Physical Shields

The Shield icon.

Physical shields are shields with a high armor stat. While not as versatile as magic shields, they will often have other benefits, such as boosts to a character’s Awareness or evasion. Steady is sometimes seen on physical shields as well.

Physical shields are the easiest type of shield to find in Fahrul:

• Iron Tower Shield
• Spiked Shield
• Aegis of Husher

Magic Shields

The Magic Shield icon.

Magic shields will occasionally offer other magical incentives like damage reflection or added Resistance.

Some notable magic shields are:

• Mirror Shield
• Spellbane Shield

Weapons present a variety of damage types necessary to defeat the many enemies in For The King. They come in many different forms and designs, each one attuned to a different Character Stat. Characters with a high proficiency in a specific stat will fair better in battle with weapons attuned to that particular stat. For example, Hunters are more adept at using weapons such as Bows, as they have a natural base proficiency in Awareness (and most bows are attuned to the Awareness stat).

There are no stipulations on which weapons each character can use. This effectively allows players to equip their characters with whichever weapon they so please, although giving the Scholar a weapon such as a Mace might be considered a dubious decision.
